We raise heritage breed pigs, known for their excellent meat quality and their ability to forage and live outdoors. Our current pigs are called Gloucestershire Old Spots. Originally from England, the Old Spots are one of the oldest documented pig breeds in the world. For more information about what is a heritage breed and why it matters, check out our article here.
We raise our pigs on rotating pasture to keep their living space clean and to help regenerate the land. Every day they are fed a combination of vegetables, fruits, nuts, bread, cheese, and a pig feed locally milled in Petaluma. We do not give antibiotics or any other drugs to our animals. Instead, we use natural supplements like raw apple cider vinegar and garlic powder. Our pasture is free from pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Our pigs are as healthy as they can be.
The Old Spots are known for their wonderfully marbled meat. By the way, pork fat may not be as bad for you as you think! Check out this comparison of pig fat to olive and coconut oil.
